Doodling is central to my process in which I use it's unintentional nature as an unconstrained approach to art making. With pen and ink, one continuous, meandering line is drawn. I then, experiment. With repetitious, arbitrary and divergent marks-- pattern, shape and line work is added until a composition manifests itself.
I consider doodling a transcription of the mind’s introspections; in this process I parallel the mind to the doodles, noting their inherent patterns and randomness. Memories, perceptions and thoughts constantly recur, fissure and morph, similar to my work’s repetitive details and permuting forms.
Characteristics of randomness and pattern lead me to observations on technology. Particularly, the internet's influence on the human condition. Expanding upon this sensibility, I create an array of drawings, paintings and collages based on these themes.
